  2. Go to Settings-About, and tap on the Update Option from there (If its show “The latest update have already been installed” message, then your device haven’t receive any OTA yet, check back later or try installing through Kies.)
  3. Tap OK to start the download and installation process
  4. Once done, your device will reboot automatically

How to Update Official Firmware on Samsung SM-J100H through Samsung Kies Utility:

  1. Turn on WiFi or Mobile Data on your device (should have stable Internet connection)
  2. Download and Install Samsung Kies Utility on your PC
  3. Connect your device to PC through USB
  4. Open/Run Samsung Kies, it should automatically detect your device
  5. At the Samsung Kies home screen, you’ll see New Firmware Upgrade is available notification (If it show- “This is the last firmware”, then your device haven’t received the latest firmware on Kies, check back later or try flashing manually through Odin)
  6. Click on the Firmware Upgrade button to start the update process

Kies and OTA are the official way to update firmware but most of us prefer manual way to update official firmware. So, below you’ll find step by step manual guide to update the XXU0AOA8 4.4.4 KitKat firmware on your Samsung J100H through Odin software on your PC or Laptop.

Points to be noted:

1) Check battery percentage, your device should have at least 60% battery power

2) Turn on USB Debugging mode, go to Settings-General-Developer Options (As the Developer options are hidden by default on all Android device running on Android 4.2 or up, So go to Settings-General-About on your Samsung and tap Build Number for 7 times to visible the Developer options.) 3) Backup important data and settings to external storage-

4) Install USB driver for your device on your PC/Laptop- Download Samsung USB Driver  

5) If your Samsung J100H have any Custom ROM installed such as- CyanogenMod ROM, ParanoidAndroid ROM, AOKP ROM, SLIM ROM, PACman ROM, Avatar ROM, Omni ROM, LiquidSmooth ROM, Beanstalk ROM, Carbon ROM etc, then it’ll be replaced by stock firmware.

6) Custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP Recovery) will be replaced by Stock Recovery

7) After flashing official firmware, your device will no longer belongs to rooted device. However you can root your device any time after flashing the firmware.

Steps to update J100HXXU0AOA8 4.4.4 KitKat firmware on Samsung J100H through Odin: 

1) Download XXU0AOA8 4.4.4 KitKat firmware for Samsung J100H from the above download section

2) Download Odin 3.09

3) Switch off and boot Samsung J100H into Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down+Home+Power buttons (long press until the boot screen appear), now press Volume Up key to proceed to Download Mode.  

4) Extract the downloaded Odin3.09 zip file and run the Odin3 v3.09.exe file as an administrator (Right click on the .exe file and click on Run as administrator)

5) Now connect your Samsung J100H to your computer via USB cable

6) In Odin3 screen, you should see a COM Port number like “0:[COM7]” at ID:COM section and “Added!” text at the message box. This means your device has been detected by Odin3.

7) Make sure that, only the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options are checked in Odin.

8) Now, extract the downloaded firmware zip file, you’ll find a firmware file with extension .tar.md5

9) In Odin screen, click on AP (PDA in older Odin) button and select the firmware file with .tar.md5 extension (The firmware file look something like: J100HXXDLJ5_J100HODDDLI7_INU.tar.md5)

10) Now, click on the Start button to begin the installation process, wait few moments.

11) Once completed, you would see “PASS!” message in ID:COM port having green background

12) Your device should automatically reboot after completion

13) You can now disconnect your device from computer

14) Finish

Hope you successfully completed the update process. If you followed everything as mentioned in the above tutorial, then your device should now running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat build version number XXU0AOA8. You can verify the firmware update details from Settings-About Phone.
