How To Easily Flash .nb0 Firmware / Rom via SUT-LR

Some stock roms / firmware packages use .nb0 extension and cannot be flashed using the likes of http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2016/03/easy-mtk-firmware-flashing-installation.html" target="_blank">SmartPhone flashtool, http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /2015/11/how-to-flash-stock-rom-firmware-on-any.html" target="_blank">Spreadtrum Update Tool, etc. Though, some device manufacturers have made it possible for its official software updates in .nb0 extension to be flashed via the phone's stock recovery. This feature may not be available to all devices, hence this post.

With Software Update Tool (SUT) you can easily flash your device stock firmware via a Computer. The process explained below is very simple. Read and follow the guide carefully.

Flashing .nb0 firmware files

• Download and install your device http://pinkberrylicious.blogspot.com /p/drivers.html" target="_blank">driver on your PC
• Download Software Update Tool (SUT)
• Install and run SUT-LR on your Computer
• Unzip the downloaded .nb0 firmware from its zip archive and place in any folder. Extracting to desktop should be cool.
• Reboot the device to fastboot / download mode / bootloader. (adb reboot bootloader, or power off then use button combo)
• Connect device to PC
• From SUT-LR interface, click on ... or the empty box and select the extracted .nb0 firmware and click Next
• In the next page, select Erase User Data, then proceed
• The flashing should now commence. Wait a few minutes for this process to complete.
• Disconnect the device and reboot!
• Done!

Easily Replace KingoSU and other SU app with SuperSu files Automatically

Rooting with most one-click root programs usually installs other super user apps not SuperSU, some of them being the ones developed by the program developers (KingRoot's KingoSU, for instance).

Now, most Android users prefer SuperSU for too many reasons which some might be based on personal preferences. Because of this, they might feel the need to switch the super user app and its binary files with SuperSU.

Also, lately I got to discover that some of these other super user apps are not able to grant root access to certain apps. A few hours ago, I installed the latest version of Flashfire (developed by Chainfire) on one of my devices and the installed super user app was unable to grant root access to Flashfire. I then replaced all SU files with SuperSU (also property of Chainfire) and it worked just fine.

Note that both SuperSU and Flashfire is owned by Chainfire.

Prerequisites

• A custom recovery
• Flashable SuperSu - Download
• You already know this guide requires a rooted device, so proceed. Learn how to root your device.

Flashing SuperSU

• Download SuperSU from the link above and copy to the root of your device sdcard
• Reboot to recovery
• Select Install Zip, then navigate to where you placed BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip
• Select the zip and flash it
• Reboot device to system

Most importantly, I want you to know that this guide is not only for moving to SuperSU, but it can also be used to root a non-rooted Android device that has custom recovery installed.

How To Convert Data And Cache Partitions From Ext4 To F2FS In TWRP Recovery

Ext4 is only supported in nAOSP roms 5.1 and earlier. All other version of nAOSP (6.0 and later) require F2FS data and cache partitions.

So, if it is required by the version of nAOSP rom you wish to flash that you F2FS partition on /data and /cache, read and follow the easy instructions below to get it done via TWRP recovery without stress.

How To Convert To F2FS

• First, boot into TWRP recovery
• Select Wipe
• Tap Advanced Wipe
• Choose Data
• Now click Repair or Change File system
• Tap Change File System
• Select F2FS
• Finally, Swipe to Change
• Done!

Now, tap Home and repeat the exact steps above for Cache partition

Once done, reboot the device as suggested by TWRP.

Note: If you still see 0MB or a wrong size for data partition after the reboot, format data (Wipe/Format Data). If that doesn't fix it, convert data to ext4 and back to f2fs.

Installing nAOSP Lollipop (5.0, 5.1) Rom On Xperia S LT26i

How To Install Xposed Framework Without Custom Recovery On Lollipop Devices

If you don't have a custom recovery (twrp,cwm, ctr) on you device and you wish to install Xposed Framework, read and follow the guide here carefully.

First, you should note that this guide is meant for Android devices running lollipop. So, do not use this on any other version of Android.

How To Unlock Bootloader Of Xolo Android Devices

Unlocking your device bootloader allows you to do a whole lot of things on your device, like flashing custom roms, kernels, rooting, baseband, etc.

Officially, no provision is made to unlock the bootloader of certain devices, unlike Nexus, Sony, Motorola, HTC, and a few others.

Xolo happens to be one of the devices without any official bootloader unlocking means. So, if you use a Xolo smartphone and wish to unlock your phone's bootloader, read and follow this brief guide carefully.

This guide has been successfully used to unlock Xolo Black and some other Xolo devices. Though some people complain it fails to unlock their Xolo device bootloader. Give it a try, it might actually work for you. ;-)

• Now connect your device to the Computer and issue the following commands and tapping Enter button at the end of each command line

• Download the patcher and extract the files to '~/fbpatcher' (~ is your home directory)
• Download the latest Facebook apk from apkmirror.
• Move the apk to the folder where you have extracted fbpatcher, and rename it to 'fb.apk'.
• Open Terminal and type 'cd ~/fbpatcher', press Enter, then type 'java -jar fbpatcher.jar fb.apk fb-patched.apk' and press Enter again.
• If it's done, you get a file 'fb-patched.apk'. 
• Copy it to your device, install and enjoy!

Note: You will have to uninstall the official app from your device for this patched version install properly.
